CATHEXIS Supports Northern Virginia Nonprofit Food for Others
TYSONS, Va., Aug. 21, 2024 — CATHEXIS team members recently demonstrated their support for local nonprofit food bank and food rescue operation Food for Others (FfO). The team participated in the nonprofit’s food packing and distribution initiative by assembling and donating meal kits badly needed by undernourished members of the Northern Virginia area.
Food for Others is an important part of Northern Virginia’s safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes and for the growing number of working poor who need to supplement their inadequate food supplies. Local merchants, the USDA, food drives, and crop harvests provide the food; volunteers and staff provide the hands; and charitable contributions and fundraising events provide the funds.
FfO’s Power Pack Program (P3) provides weekend meal packs for students experiencing food insecurity. The program currently serves 45 schools and more than 3,500 students each week. CATHEXIS team members collected, assembled, and delivered 112 Power Packs, totaling 194 pounds of P3-approved food items.
